About Me.
Hello, I am Becky and I am a registered Clinical Psychologist, specialist in working with adults who have experienced trauma.
I qualified with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College London in 2013, and have been working within the NHS in specialist trauma services for the past 12 years. I currently manage an NHS complex PTSD service in North London.
Alongside my NHS work, I have also worked privately for over 10 years, again specialising in trauma work. I have chosen to focus on this specialist area in both of my work settings to ensure I am truly offering specialist therapy to all of my clients.
I have experience working with adults who have experienced a wide range of traumas and adverse life events, including childhood abuse and neglect, domestic violence, rape and sexual assault, torture, traumatic childbirth, terrorist attacks and civilian and military experiences of conflict.
The experience of living through and surviving trauma can have far-reaching consequences for a persons view of themselves, their relationships and the world around them. Therapy with me can help you to process the experiences you have survived, and notice and acknowledge the impact they have had. It can help to understand why previous coping strategies may no longer feel like they are working, and how to move through the stuckness and develop new ways to manage.
As a Clinical Psychologist I am able to draw upon a number of evidence-based therapies to develop a holistic understanding of you as a person and the difficulties that bring you here. We will work to create a shared understanding of your difficulties, and then plan how best to address these in therapy. I tend to work with people for short to medium term pieces of work (12 - 30 sessions) but can work with people for longer where we have shared goals and the sessions are feeling helpful.
