My Approach.
Everyone is unique and the right therapy for you may include a range of models and techniques, based on your personal goals for therapy and the life events which have brought you here. As a Clinical Psychologist I am able to use a number of therapeutic approaches to ensure that therapy is tailored to you.
At the start of our work we will focus on gaining a good shared understanding of your life, your strengths, difficulties and the traumas an adversities you have lived through. We will then develop a plan for therapy.
All work is guided by evidence-based models.
Approaches -
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)
Compassion Focussed Therapy
Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
DBT Skills
Cognitive Analytic Therapy(CAT)-informed work
I can provide assessment, formulation and therapy for people experiencing a range of difficulties, where you feel they have their roots in the trauma and adversity you have survived, including:
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD)
Depression and low mood
Anxiety and worry
Relationship difficulties - Noticing that you tend to develop the same kinds of relationships (e.g. ones where you appease others and are not cared for) and struggling to break out of this cycle
Low self-esteem
Self-critical thoughts
Difficulties managing strong emotions
Struggling with the strong emotions evoked by parenting your own children
